Meet Pastor Del


Pastor Delphain Demosthenes


Delphain Demosthenes came to New York from Haiti with his family as a young teen, and graduated from New Rochelle High School. After completing his undergraduate education at Nyack College, he studied at Yale University’s School of Divinity (M.Div., 2000) and New York University’s School of Social Work (MSW, 2006). He met his wife, Françoise Hamlin at Yale where she earned her Ph.D. (2004). They married in New Haven, CT in June 2006, and spent 2 years in western Massachusetts where Del worked for the Friends of the Homeless in Springfield as a therapist and Françoise worked at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. They relocated to the Providence area in the summer of 2008 when Françoise got hired at Brown University. They have one son, Elijah, who is seven years old.

Del was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1999. He served as a ministerial intern at the Community Baptist Church in New Haven, CT, from 1999 to 2000; as an affiliated minister at the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, CT, from 2002 to 2004; and as a pastor of the French-Speaking Baptist Church of New Rochelle from 2000 to 2008. Del first joined the MBC family in November 2008 as an interim pastor and has been with MBC ever since.
