Music Director - Scott W. Potter
Scott grew up in North Attleboro, graduating from North Attleboro High School in 1979. He took an early interest in music, studying for 4 years, playing the clarinet. He then decided to take that musical knowledge and taught himself to play the piano, forming and playing in several rock bands, from 1978 until 1985. He has studied vocally with three different instructors over the years. He has written, copy written and recorded numerous compositions, some collaboratively. Several of these have been incorporated into the worship service from time to time. Scott married Cindy (Bento) Potter in 1983, and they have two children. Cory, 23, and Kristen, 21. Cory is married and a carpenter. Kristen works 3 jobs and is a student. Scott & Cindy lived in Pawtucket for many years when they were first married, and then moved to Seekonk in 2002. Shortly thereafter, they started attending Memorial Baptist Church, which was around the corner from their new house, and immediately felt at home. Feeling drawn to Contemporary Christian music at his previous church, he started introducing it to the congregation there with his brother-in-law Jim Amara, with whom he sometimes can be found ministering in Christian Coffee Houses. It was a short step from there to joining MBC's newly formed Praise Team, under the direction of the previous Music Minister, Lynne Znoj. Thankful for Lynne's mentoring, he eventually took the reins after Lynne resigned. It has been a labor of love ever since. The MBC Praise Team is a close-knit group, with a love for the Lord, and a love for worship. They will occasionally take the group "on the road" and bring their music ministry to new audiences, or participate in extracurricular concerts at the church. |
